K-DOT officially not retired

The wait is over, and Twitter is shook.

"Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" to be released May 13, 2022.

The news came as a surprise to fans who were under the impression that Lamar might have stepped away from the mic in a Lauryn Hill fashion. But honestly, we all should've known better. Lamar announced the release by quoting a fan's tweet with a link to his cryptic website

On the website is two files: one which is the official press released pictured above and the other which is a message from Lamar which seems to be an update on where he's been.

"nu thoughts" states "As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling."

Sounds like "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" will be Kendrick's final album under Top Dawg Entertainment with encouragement from CEO, Top Dawg, himself. In a sit down with Mic, Tiffith calls this move "...a full-circle moment."

I anticipate the album will be just that a musical representation of one chapter closing and another beginning - I hope to see music from fellow TDE artists as well as some news artists under Kendrick's "Oklama" wing on this next project.
