Let's Talk NEW Moons

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

FIRST OF ALL: Let me set one thing straight -

No, THAT IS NOT A NEW MOON IN THE PICTURE!

And why not? Well because a New Moon is entirely dark (just in case you didn't know).

Noooo, I'm not talking eclipse dark, but that's somewhat along the lines of what I'm getting at.

I've always found New Moons intriguing because it's something magical about catching one. They aren't impossible to spot, but if you've happened to have caught one then maybe you can understand the mystery behind this moon phase. It's almost as if the moon is shying away or hiding - in contrast to the BRIGHT and BOLD Full Moon.

But once I learned the power of the New Moon, I appreciated it so much more. Let's look at the phases of the moon :

As we can see from this LOV-A-LEE gif the New Moon begins the cycle and gradually exposes itself to the Full Moon only to creep back to a 'new' New Moon

(Yes, I was that kid who looked up at the sky and yelled "LOOK MOM IT'S THE MOON" as if the moon wasn't in the sky every day.)

Think of the cycle as a normal day:

- You wake up (New Moon)

- About lunchtime you're full of energy (Full Moon)

- Then you sleep and wake to a new day (New Moon)

Here's a few FYI's when it comes to the moon:

- THE FULL MOON DOES NOT END THIS CYCLE - I repeat - THE FULL MOON IS NOT THE LAST PHASE OF THE MOON. The Waning Crescent is .. but we'll talk about that some other time.

- Just because it's #LeoSzn doesn't mean the Moon is in Leo as well. (Even tho it is tonight....) That's the current sign of the sun which changes every 30 days. The Moon, on the other hand, changes zodiac sign every 2.5 days.

- YES! YOU CAN HARNESS THE MOON'S ENERGY. You don't need no crystals, candles, or rituals.. however, if you have these things, do continue on as you please. But by all means it is not necessary. All you need is a willing spirit, some direction, and an intention.

...

So what does the New Moon tonight mean exactly? Don't worry honey, I got you:

AUGUST 18, 2020 @ around 10:30 PM in ATL, GA

(look up, you might catch this shy moon)

New Moon is in Leo. BLACK MOON (Second New Moon of the month - POWERFUL manifestation energy)

All New Moons symbolize new beginnings (hence the first blog post). This is the time to sit back and set new goals for the upcoming season. This is the time to be alone and rest up. Practice meditation and reflect. Write down your goals and wishes and set the stage to work towards them. The New Moon is a fresh start - leave all the drama, failures, disappointments, stumbles, hiccups in the past and grow from them. It's time to PROGRESS to your next move.

Tonight's New Moon in Leo is all about setting goals in regards to your individual fire and your creativity.

  1. Tap into your creativity - dig deep. Start a project that you've been dying to begin and let your passion soar. Write down your goals and devise a plan.

  2. Wear your pride on your sleeve. The lion is the embodiment of pride - now's the time to stroke your ego - but "don't get crazy!" - Shanaynay (Martin TV series)

  3. Grow some balls. Tonight's the night to do it. Take in all that powerful, fiery Leo energy and take charge. Take control of your emotions, thoughts, intentions, whatever you need.

These are perfect starts to approaching tonight's New Moon. But don't let it end here. You are setting the stage for yourself! Utilize this New Moon to transform into an individual who is confident in yourself and in your craft. But like always - manifestation is not a one-time action. You must carry this energy with you continuously to create a reality. Instead of saying "I'm going to post on my blog regularly and share my thoughts in a confident manner" actually COMMIT to your manifestation. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! Just saying it and leaving it to the universe just isn't enough. Manifest then LIVE it. Create it - make it come to life. Use this New Moon to tap into your creativity then TAKE OFF!
